Trinidad was founded in 1969 and named after the historic city of Trinidad in Cuba (also known as La Sant í sima Trinidad). Like the Cohiba, it was specifically designed as a gift for Fidel Castro and was only produced as a gift for foreign heads of state and diplomats, thus adding to the mystery of this cigar. It was not until 1998 that Trinidad cigars began to be sold in the international market. For many years, Trinidad cigars have been produced in El Laguito (also the factory of Cohiba cigars). However, due to the demand for Trinidad cigars exceeding the production capacity of the factory, the brand relocated the production base of all products to the Pinar del Rio Vuelta Abajo area. The brand trademark consists of three T’s (Tell The Truth) to tell you what a good cigar is. All sizes of its branded cigars are handmade long core cigars (Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larg).
